The picture shows the outskirts of the village with gray leaning houses, the descent to the river in the form of a wooden staircase. A rainbow appeared over the village after the rain, transparent, barely noticeable. Streams flow down from the hill, forming grooves. In the distance you can see the continuation of the village. And above it – black clouds that carry the rain with them. Of the people, only one woman is depicted, who returns home from the river. She carries a yoke with buckets filled with water. The river is depicted on the right in the picture. It reflects the brown-yellow sky. The water is still muddy after the rain. The sky occupies almost half of the canvas. And on the lower half, the lush greenery of rain-washed grass prevails. Most likely there was a strong thunderstorm. The rain has stopped, the clouds are gone, but the streams are still flowing. The air is transparent, there is no dust. A feeling of silence and serenity is created. The rainbow is the lightest part of the picture. But at the same time it is not bright, not artificial. It is light, weightless, like air and light. A plank staircase seems to lead to a rainbow. And the rainbow itself connects heaven and earth.
